Certification in Graphic Design
Interesting article talking about certifications within the industry. Not really comparable to LEED, but some good thoughts.

One of my favorite speakers from the AIGA Make/Think conference, he articulated that Design Thinking is the hybrid between Intuitive and Analytical Thinking. Goes like this:
Analytical Thinking
Purpose: Prove through induction & deducation
Goal: Reliability, consistent outcome
Intuitive Thinking
Purpose: To know without explicit reasoning
Goal: Validity, outcome that meets the objective
Design Thinking
Purpose: Balance and abduction
Goal: Reliability and validity, productive balance
I’ve also read his book, The Responsibility Virus, and it is excellent!
One of the more inspiring people from the AIGA Make/Think conference. Charles Harrison was an industrial designer for Sears/Roebuck for over 30 years and was one of the first (if not the first) notable African Americans in industrial design. He is an inspiration not only for what he accomplished, but also for the odds he overcame.
